In a 24h workshop, teams developed design proposals for a garden on an undeveloped plot of the ETH campus. The development of the garden will be continued every semester by the studio for the next 10 years.
The main objective of our design was to lay the groundwork for future uses. We selected plants that will increase the soil quality and propose terracing of the site. As the Centerpoint, we intended an apple tree.
Our proposal won the second place among the 20 entries and elements of it were realized in the built project. We were later put in charge of adapting the design and supervised the construction together with the chair.
In the build project the central apple tree was replaced by several layers of fruit trees laid out in an ellipse framing the central space. The pathway system and the flower beds were build and planted as proposed by us.
